Life Changing

P90x or Insanity. Which is the better option? Why even choose? Why not get the best of both worlds. I have been doing P90x/Insanity hybrid for the past 9 weeks or so, including eating healthy most of the times. I'm proud to say that I can keep up with some of the peeps in either program. The results I've gotten so far are amazing, but I still have a long way to go! My weakness is the diet. Although I have been behaving in that aspect, I know I can do better. Being Asian Filipino, guilty, yummy, CARBS, sweet, savory foods are EVERYWHERE. And the fact that my boyfriend hasn't joined my fitness journey (sad to say), makes it that much harder to behave with food! It's a learning progress and it's all about balancing everything. My ideal goal now compared to a year ago has been so much more towards being healthy. Before, I was OBSESSED with trying to be "skinny". I wanted a thigh gap. I wanted skinny arms. A flat stomach. I didn't want muscles, thinking that I'd be bulky, ie a bodybuilders body. Fast forward to now, I have muscle definition in my stomach. My arms have muscle. My thighs have muscle. I don't care about having a thigh gap! And I don't care if I'm skinny enough. I eat to be healthy and I try to eat right. I have come such a long way and I won't be stopping anytime soon.

Problems: I had a baby about 4 years ago. My stomach stretched out to beyond comprehension! My problem areas that I am struggling with is my stomach area. Lovehandles, lower pooch, lower back. On top of that, I have these stretch marks on my sides and excess skin on my lower abdomen. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it completely but that's okay. Thinking about the feat that I've overcome and the outcome because of my tummy stretching makes it okay. And the fact that I have a wonderful partner and an amazing daughter who loves me for me makes it even better.

Now. To talk about two exercises. They are completely different in a sense that they are both the same. Different because the feel in both of them are almost polar opposite. P90x is more chill about everything. It focuses on quality vs quantity in most of the workouts. Focus on your stance, posture, the reps. You're working your muscles completely and get to use equipment such as dumbbells, pull up bar, bands, a chair, plates, towels, things like that..., it's things that you probably already have. Me personally I don't sweat that much with p90x. It doesn't mean that I'm not working my butt off. My heart is pumping and I know I get an amazing workout. Insanity is just that: Insane. You're sweating bullets, your heart is pumping 150 beats per minute, you are beyond exhaustion and completely at your limit. You use no equipment, just your body. Shaun T pushes you to the max. It's an insane cardio ride from the minute you press "play" 'til the end. It's max interval training which pretty much sums up to you being exhausted at the end. Which is one more challenging to do? Probably Insanity.
I love the two programs so much that I wanted to do them together. I found a lovely calendar that incorporates both workouts into 12 weeks. So you have your strength training with P90x and the insane cardio with Insanity. I am nearing my 12 week journey with these 2 workouts and it's such an amazing feeling. Not only has it changed body but I've learned so much about what food to eat, to  limit myself when it comes to food, and a positive lifestyle. No, my life is NOT perfect, but I even know how to handle stress differently and I know that it has a lot to do with what I'm putting inside my body. It's a TOTAL package makeover, and that's the great thing about these workouts.
