Scary Movie? Yes please.
4:14 PMI'm a big fan of truly scary movies. The Exorcist, The Shutter (Original Thai vers.), The Ring are a few of my faves. Never will I watch it alone however and maybe I should mention the sleepless nights afterwards, but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy them.
The Conjuring (2013) by far is the most scariest movies that I've seen in a while. It fulfilled my needs for a genuinely scary movie as well as a good story. While not all original (how many haunted house/demon/ghost movies are out there) it still struck out in its category. The steady build up of suspense was like step by step thing - like feeling the hair at the back of your neck stand up, to hearing a whisper, to then hearing noises like the sound of a door creak open, up to the actual sensation of feeling touched, and then ultimately to actually seeing things. That's how I felt the movie was to me. It wasn't the fact that it was The Most Scariest Thing In the World -but the build up of suspense, story line, makeup and illusions was the It-Factor for me.
It's R-Rated by the way and I wondered about that. What was so R-Rated about this film? There were no gore, naked, not even nude, sexual implications, or crude commentary. So why? The MPAA are the ones who decide what category in the PG, PG-13, R, NR department. It was so scary in fact that a R-Rated was considered and decided for this movie. So go watch and see for yourself. Anabelle insists!
